The Foundation has welcomed 29 new Sanam Jabchorpas (Agriculture Extension Supporters)! These passionate individuals, along with the Foundation’s eight Field Officers, will be the backbone of the BRECSA project, working alongside WFP and the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, Royal Government of Bhutan.
These dedicated individuals will play a key role in the Building Resilient Commercial Smallholder Agriculture (BRECSA) project, a collaboration between Tarayana Foundation and WFP, funded by the Global Agriculture and Food Security Programme (GAFSP) and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).
During the orientation, the Sanam Jobchorpas were introduced to the Tarayana Foundation, alongside human resource, administrative, and financial guidelines to support their work. Additionally, officials from Tarayana Microfinance introduced their services, which can be extended to rural clients.
Officials from WFP Bhutan and the Ministry of Agriculture led sessions on the Building Resilient Commercial Smallholder Agriculture-BRECSA project and outlined each team member’s roles and responsibilities.
They also underwent essential training in gender empowerment, financial inclusion, and P.A.C.E. modules.
At the end, project sites were assigned, and the Sanam Jabchorpa are now prepared and ready to support Bhutan’s smallholder farmers. Here’s to a future of resilient and thriving agriculture!
