Târâyana News2nd Batch of Senior Citizens return from Bodhgaya This year two Olep ladies, four Monpas, one senior citizen from Mongar formed the team that went on the annual pilgrimage to Bodhgaya. Two field officers Dawa Tshering and Leki Dawa went in attendance and helped to look after then team. The visits included special prayer sessions at the main Mahabodhi Temple, day visits to near by pilgrim sites including the Vulture's Peak, Nalanda, the hotsprings at Rajgir. Ap Phuba, at 86 years old was the oldest in the team. The team included Lam Dophu, the Monpa Lam, of the Central Monastic Body. He is the first Monpa Lam with the Central Monastic Body. His late father Tsampa Toula was one of the main village elders representing the community during the initial consultations. This programme was started as Tarayana way of celebrating the 100 years of our Monarchy and the Coronation of our King last November. posted on: 2009-11-28 |
