Basic Entrepreneurship Course for Youth
Tarayana Foundation, with support from the Entrepreneurship Promotion Division, Ministry of Labour and Human Resources (MoLHR), and Dzongkhag Economic Development Sector of Mongar and Zhemgang Districts, organized a 15-day long Basic Entrepreneurship Course for the youths of selected blocks in two Districts. A total of 23 males and 14 females attended the course.
The course included developing business proposals, financial plans, introduction to organization and management plans, and business model canvas, among others. All the participants were unemployed, school leavers, and high school graduates.
Sangay Zangmo, a 20-year-old high school graduate, says, “My plan to set up Wangchuk Restaurant in Panbang came into existence after attending this course. I even developed a business proposal on this plan during the course, and now I am pretty clear on how to go about it”. She further stated that financial management and developing business proposals were the participants' most critical learnings during the course.
The Basic Entrepreneurship Course for the youths of Saling, Silambi, and Gondue Gewog under Mongar Dzongkhag was conducted from the 14th to the 19th of November. It concluded with the awarding of certificates and cash prizes of Nu. 50 000 to the four winning business ideas;

The Basic Entrepreneurship Course for the youths of Pangkhar, Goshing, and Nangla Gewog under Zhemgang Dzongkhag was organized from the 18th of November to the 1st of December at the Rural Training Development Centre, Zhemgang (RDTC). The Popcorn business idea was recognized as the Best Business Idea, and the 3Head Salon business proposal was the Best Business Idea Pitching.
The young participants' had many brilliant business ideas. They just needed a platform and an opportunity to put forth and pitch their ideas. We sincerely hope relevant institutions will provide the necessary support and enable these enthusiastic young minds to operationalize their business ideas. Meanwhile, the Foundation will continue facilitating such programmes to give our youth ample opportunities to present their creativity and innovation on the business front.
